AHOY THE SAILOR PANT

Crisp, clean, with a vaguely French aroma.

Wide-legged, high-waisted, sailor pants are the stuff of J.Peterman catalog odes and a sartorial staple for those who want to look like they have the height-leg ratio of Nadja Auermann. They are timeless, elegant, and soooo comfortable.

Who What Wear insists the French way to wear them is with your top tucked in to showcase the bib-front and buttons. My favorite pair, pictured above, are vintage J.Crew, where they are available now in neon flamingo or olive drab.

Going all in on the nautical spirit of these pants, I paired them with a classic navy-white stripe boatneck top from Lands End. I also love these bretons from Boden -- they bring a bit more sass.

Or you can do like I did and leave the sass to the face mask, because there is no body part that cannot be nautical-ized.

You can wear these everywhere - I originally got them for a family engagement party at my parents house in Old Saybrook, CT.
